BeautifulMuur was founded in 2008 by graffiti artist Roy Valk, also known by the stage name Karski, and his then business partner Daniel Stroomer. The company was born from a shared passion and vision for creating graffiti art for both individuals and corporate clients. A period of creative assignments began, with Karski's personal style emerging in more and more places.

Roy Valk, the creative brain behind Beautiful Wall
As a ten-year-old boy, Roy started his career as a graffiti rascal. He discovered and developed his talent and was already designing for his classmates at the age of 12. He sprayed these on their leather school bags, which he used to earn his own money. He later studied at the graphic lyceum and then the art academy, where he took photography courses, among other things. Especially the techniques with double exposure that he learned here, he still applies a lot in his creative designs.
With his enormous passion for graffiti, Roy was one of the first artists in the Netherlands to use his technique and style widely. With his unique abstract work and his relentless urge to experiment, he is part of the post-graffiti movement. A movement that emerged from the graffiti scene 20 years ago as a combination of graffiti and street art.
Art and concept thinking
Over the years, Roy developed into a visual artist and started his own advertising agency in 2000. Within this office he wanted to combine his sense of concept thinking with his creative mind. The agency soon grew into a company with 10 employees that he had to manage, which meant that he was able to use his creativity less and less. He sold the company and started a few years later in 2008 with MooiMuur, in which creativity is the pivot around which everything revolves. From murals in children's rooms to tens or hundreds of meters large walls for companies.
A unique style
As a professional graffiti art agency, MooiMuur is constantly developing. Roy experiments with styles and materials, resulting in new works of art each time. In addition, he regularly collaborates with other artists to gain inspiration and experience together. All designs start with water-based acrylic in the studio, then they are often further elaborated with aerosol cans.

Roy's designs give everyone room for their own interpretation. Abstract shapes and realistic images are combined in a unique style, creating a fascinating new world. Precisely because the viewer is given the opportunity to see their own story in the artworks, a connection is created in the street.

Visibility with murals
In Abu Dhabi and Beirut, Karski worked with a team of 18 artists to create what was then the largest mural in the world. More than 7.000 m2, with the most beautiful colors and images.
Making a mural, in any format, creates visibility and bonding. While the various works of art are being made, the artist is addressed on the street or in the workplace. What are you doing? What will this be? Spectators are invited to a conversation about what they see in it. In this way, a first contact is created and your company is immediately in the spotlight.
